Morning Class: Free Motion Fantasy ($89), 9am-12pm Free motion quilting can add life to ordinary pieces with whimsical stitches on small projects. You will love how the end project looks and how simple and quick it comes together. Apply this technique to art quilts, pillows, purses and more! You do not have to be an expert in free motion quilting, but some experience is helpful. Kit supplied by Faribault Vacuum & Sewing Center.

Afternoon Class: Creative Stitching ($89), 1pm-5pm Let’s go on a journey using machine stitches to make a work of art! Your sewing machine has many stitches you have never used, and we are going to change that during this class. You will learn to let go of all the rules, enjoy adding cording and beautiful decorative stitches wherever you want them to be. Use multiple colors of thread and stitches in ways you have never used them before. When you are done you will have a gorgeous table runner, wall hanging or fabric for a purse that is truly a work of art. Kit supplied by Faribault Vacuum & Sewing Center.

Full Day Class: Free Motion Meandering ($89), 10am-4pm Free motion quilting can be fun! In this beginner class you will learn how to set up the machine for free motion quilting, prepare your fabric, choose needles, and understand how to adjust tension. We will go through several meandering stitches to show how quick and fun free motion can be with very few rules involved. We will end the class with a sample of how to mix those meandering stitches to make a beautiful design that is all your own! No need to haul your machine in as a sit-down quilting machine will be provided by Faribault Vacuum & Sewing Center.

Penny Kaspszak teaches quilting arts and free motion classes for people who want to expand their quilting abilities and try something new. She has taught at local quilt shops, retreats, the Lodi Quilt Academy, and the Quilt Expo in Madison, WI.
